You can use Travellers cheques, Australian currency or convert your Aussie dollars to Fijian dollars virtually anywhere in Fiji. Most Hotels, Shops and Restaurants accept nearly all major Credit Cards so Travellers cheques can sometimes become superfluous.
You can also take money into Fiji quite easily as the Fiji authorities are tourist friendly and will allow you to bring Australian dollars into the country without any fuss as long as it is not over FJD $10,000.
If you decide to take Aussie dollars and change it locally in Fiji, you may find that you'll get more 'bang for your buck' - sometimes as much as $1.65 Fijian for every Australian dollar (depending on the value of our Aussie dollar on the day).
Major Banks like Westpac, ANZ, Colonial and many others, provide a variety of services in Fiji.
ATM machines are strategically located throughout Fiji's main islands and you can make withdrawals from your overseas funds as and when the need arises. It will conveniently and automatically convert your Australian dollar to the Fijian currency.
While tipping is not encouraged in Fiji, a small donation or gift to a staff Christmas fund is considered an appropriate way to say "Vinaka Vakalevu" or Thank you.
